Hi all

We are rebuilding the power steering pump on a HJ 61 and currently there are two issues looking for solutions.
1 ……the rebuild kit comes with two brass seats …one is clearly for the high pressure attachment point on the pump….One seat is slightly bigger than the other. Which one do I use? The seat that was originally in the pump was the larger but there’s also this smaller one I can’t figure out ….is this intended to go on the steering box high-pressure attachment point?

2….in a HJ 61 the power steering reservoir is attached some distance from the pump… From the photographs I’ve seen it seems to be attached to the bulkhead a little below the brake servo/master cylinder… Does anyone have a clear photograph of the attachment position on the bulkhead for the power steering reservoir on a HJ 61 (possibly the same in a later 2H?)

Thanks in advance

1) Use what you need for the pump, I would guess there are two due to a switchover at some point. No need to disturb the hoses on the steering box. Tap the new seat in with a smooth faced brass drift.

2) I believe the mounting point is on the RH inner wing; hopefully someone more expert can confirm.

Thanks for your reply…I’ll press on
