Exactly what I'm looking for...thank you. Anyone know sources for tube clamps like these?

Search industrial suppliers for "shaft collar" or "clamp collar". A local bearing house can also supply something like that; just take a picture with you so they can match up what you need. Or find a machine shop to make you some. Or get some DOM tubing with an inside diameter equal to the outside of the OEM tube and make your own similar to the OEM clamps. Or hack up a bunch of OEM rollbars to get the OEM clamps (bet Kina can help you here...). Or dream up something no one has yet seen and make millions! :grinpimp:

Good ideas Nick, thanks. Move back here with "the" idea and we'll do it together. :grinpimp:

Went for a ride in the troopy with NatickDave and Jsaltlick in the back buckets with Dave's daughter riding shotgun. The rear buckets sit higher than the front offering a good view out the windshield and are positioned well for looking out the side slider windows. Seems to work well with enough leg room and room to move. Still need to find some 3-point seat belts!

Seeing all of this seating-ability in a troopie really makes me want one!

Hmm......going hunting for a troope :)

Rode in that tank last week. Seats are great and very comfortable. Great set up.

New Pics... ????

Nothing new yet but will post as soon as I make more progress.

Do the rear passengers hit their heads on the roll bars or the roof?
No cranial contact as yet. I'm 6'2" and can sit in the seats without touching the roll bar and it seems to be set back just enough. Head rests will be good in the event of being rear-ended. The roof is about 2-3" from the top of my mellon which is close but similar to most cars I've been in. Had Jsaltlick and NatickDave in the back buckets and they seemed to have plenty of room. They're about 5'10"-ish? 3-point belts should help keep passengers planted in the seats.

Thanks for the belt link!

Changed the design a little and made some more progress. Still need to create an upper tube that runs from the back hoop on the outside edge of the curve to the windshield channel. Getting there...

G'day,

I like the use of the factory North American 40 roll bar and the 40 series seats- very cool! However, my favourite bit by-far is the Dead Head sticker on the left rear door(c: I can't wait to see it all when it is completely done.

Cheers,

Josh

How much room did you provide between front seats (1st) row and the second row there? Also, did you re-inforce or put backing plates underneath the bed for the seat mounts?
I have not measured the distance between the front and rear seats, but could if you'd like. I'm 6'2" and can sit in the 2nd row fixed seat with my knees just clearing the front seat. The seat that is on sliders offer a few extra inches of clearance.

I have backing plates that I plan on using for the underside.

Thread revival! Any updates as to how this ended? I love the idea of used factory roll bars and have plans to do this with my troopy. Any links to additional photos?

Thanks and great work!
