So far I have:

HJ47 was introduced in 07/80 and had:
2H 4.2 liter engine
Disc front brakes,
Larger spring bushings
Fuel tank under cab
Padded dash
Square bezel
16" wheels
Split T-case
H41, 4 speed tranny (got H55 in 1983)
Full floater rear axels (HJ45 & HJ47 both)
Both 12 Volt

Any other differences between the HJ45 & HJ47?

The late 79 and early 80 HJ45 has some of these changes (All except padded dash?). It just depends on specific vehicle. They were running changes.

Any intersting info on them?

I need to stay early 82 because of 25 year import rule.

Are there any manuals or books that I can get to learn more specifics what each does and does not have?

Many of these things depend on the market the truck was first sold in. For instance in Canada/USA we've had disc brakes since about '75. In Central America the same truck had drums at least until '80 and possibly later.

Crap I just realized I posted this on the classifieds. I ment to put it on FJ45 threads.

I guess I'll copy and past it.

im also interested in the HJ 4x rigs, from what i have read most differences between the 45 and 47 similar to the differences in the 40's and 42 rigs, things like square bezel, interior changes rim size...as somone else on the board put it "different but the same, you know?" if you search my threads you should find one about HJ 45's and 47's and also those specs will depend on the market the truck was originaly sold in...are you looking to import one or find one in NA?

HJ47 Facts

Hi, I have an 1980 HJ47 with frame number 153. The HJ47 went into production in 08/80 and also was available with 1 ton (3") drum brakes up front, Round bezel, and the factory tire size was 7.50 x 16. The early 47's also had dual fuel filters, both a spin on oil filter and a centrifugal oil filter. I hope that helps.. TimK..
