Well it seems like all the cool kids are doing it, so I thought I would follow along.

I've been gathering parts for awhile and thought I should hit it hard before I start my 80 series engine rebuild.

I posted in the 45 section, but thought I would post up here as well.

I live so close to Chicago, that he could probably hear the cold saw screaming.

I made a mounting plate that bolts to a custom heavy crossmember. The receiver bolts to the frame. There will be outriggers to support it as well.

The gusset's for the safety chain. I need to shave off about another 1/8" so the bumper sits flush with the receiver.

I left the width long, because I have a matching camper shell and I'd like to leave that space for sleeping and living. Therefore swingouts are needed for the spare tire and wedco diesel cans.

I'm just not crazy about the shape of the 45* cuts and the extra width.

Thanks man. I was wearing ear plugs as well. I'm already deaf. Don't need to be anymore.

They came from Blue Torch Fab.

Did you notice that two of them are actually bottle openers?

I'm tempted to invent a project just to use a couple of those.

I would measure from the top point of the 45*/top of the bumper about an inch or two and cut it off. That would soften the 45 cut. That should leave you with enough room for the spindles then just cap the edges. So from the top it would be a 90* down an inch or so and then a 45*.

HTH.

I think thats where I'm going to end up jack. I did it with a piece of 2x4 out of wood and cut one end as your describing and the other at a 90* I liked your way better.

Yes, Rusty those are bottle openers and at least one will find a place on the bumper somewhere. The other one will probably find it's way onto the 80 series.

I saw them on BTF the other day.

I'd be happy to provide a frosty adult beverage to give them trial run.:grinpimp:

Once it's mounted, I'll take you up on that.

ALKIES!!!!:flipoff2::hillbilly:
I didnt even notice that!
What a GRAND IDEA!
Only thing is I pretty much only bring cans as theyre easier to crush down, where bottles are....well....bottles!
