since my stereo expert is out west touring Ouray, I am in need of some advice and or direction. I am trying to figure out a way to hide a stereo in the glove box. Then have a wire going to the original center console for hooking up an iphone. I will need to have a few speakers somewhere. I am cool with the idea of Wakeboard type speakers. I just don't want to cut holes in the thing. The stereo blank in the dash needs to stay.

I did some checking here and didn't come up with much besides a secret stereo type system. Seems cool but there must be something else out there. The stereo shops near me are bestbuy or equiv. If you have any advice and or a shop that knows their sh-t, please let me know. I am up north and don't mind some travel. trying to solve this by September cause my son is going to possibly drive the cruiser occasionally and he needs his tunes.

thanks so much.

Bluetooth is your friend, wires suck.

As for speakers, I'm still trying to figure out something for the 40, that is invisible and loud enough.

If you don't need waterproof/marine speakers, you can get some 5.25 coaxs (6.5 if you need marine). Make some mounts and hide them under the dash, they can be mounted free air.

I just got a GROM unit for the taco. They have a bluetooth feature, usb plug ins, and it works with android or iphone. It can be mounted remotely and will hook up to any stock stereo with a cd changer hook up if you go the hide the stereo in plain sight route.

I will look up GROM. I am just wanting to not install visible head unit. Glove box mount is ok. Definetely want the use of ipod or iphone. Wireless would be great. Need some power cause I think it would be a waste to do a stereo that didnt get real loud when wanted. Sub in rear is ok. Speakers might have to be weatherproof cause I hope to take hardtop off for summer use.
The wakeboard speakers are a bit cheezy but ok if the sound is fair.

to sum up, speakers can be visible, sub can be seen, stereo needs to be hidden in glove box, and hoping for wireless control of tunes via iphone.
dont want to spend a crap load of cash cause it is basically for little se personally, and potential use of my son and his babe..

If you think you need more than the 20-25 Watts rms that head units put out, you could connect a blue tooth receiver strait to an amp, and control volume on the i phone. ;)

I've always thought that to be a great idea. Never known anyone to do it. Seems like it'd be a super simple system. And hell, pandora, mp3's everything is covered. Unless you really like talk radio...

I am actually going to be using it a bunch as Tuck will be needing a car here and there. It would be cool for him to borrow it occasionally but he needs some time behind the wheel of something normal before going this old school.

Tunes are key so I need to get something going in the thing. I am going to find someone to tune the thing up and go through the brakes. The parts in there are fairly new but the sitting has fooked the brakes.

I cant wait to get it back on the road now. drove it around the yard last weekend and that's all I needed to get excited about it again. maybe I need to drive the red one to see if I get that same feeling.... that truck is dead to me...
