Hi guys. I am back in Quito. Hope the Cruiser Days went well. You guys would be drooling over all the Cruisers here. First thing I saw getting off the plane about two weeks ago was a Troopie. I have only seen one 80 series but man are there a lot of mint condition and not so mint condition 40 series and Toyota Stouts all over Ecuador. Of course, there are lots of Patrols :D both new GUs and older GQs, MKs and L60s. I´ll post up some pics once I get through the thousands of photos I have taken. Sadly, it seems that Mitsubishi and Chev - Isuzu have the 4x4 market here. Also there are quite a few old Land Rovers and a few newer 110 Defenders. Most of the Cruisers and Patrols in the highlands are gassers. In the lowlands and on the coast there are quite a few diesels. The Isuzu DI 3.0 L is a sweet engine with its turbo and intercooler.

Doubt if I will make the Whipsaw trip. I am feeling bagged after leading a group for the past two weeks with only 4 hours away from them when I sent them on Whale Watching trip. Have a good one. Cheers

Just finished transfering all 1,897 of the trip pics from the lap-top to the desktop computer. Hope to sort through the pics and get the vehicle ones up on Flicker by tomorrow. I think you all will like the Toyota Stout (Yep, just like that wonderful refreshment from Ireland). I saw both old and new models and both 2WD and 4WD. Nope, it is not a Hilux.

Jeff, you're gonna love the blue 40 with the racing tire as a spare.

Mat, there were lots of old rust free well kept 40s and 60s that look like they have never seen any serious off road. Who knows though. The Ecuadorian body shops are masters at cover-up.
