The HI beams on my 1987 BJ70 (24V) have become intermittent. If the dip switch is set to HI beams, the lights do not come on when switched on. But if I flick the dip switch to LO and back to HI, all works fine.

If the dip switch is set to LO beam, all lights up fine without trouble. Could this be a relay issue?

Any help would be appreciated....

Time for the test lamp. See if you are getting power to lights on high beam and work back from there. And relays are cheap, you could just buy one and find out.
A worst case scenario would be the switch on the column.

check the electrical harness connectors; particularly in the area under the steering column. In fj62s, the ground splice bar starts to corrode and resistance builds up. Mine actually started to melt the terminal house where the headlight circuit wire connected in the connector directly below the column. the byproduct of resistance is heat; and that equates to bad things; starting with continuity issues...determine the harness health before moving on to things like combo switches...HTH
