Hello all, my first Land Cruiser and lots of questions but hopfully at some stage I can actually contribute...
I have been a very happy Defender owner for over 20 years but with the recent demise of the Defender as we know it and a need for an upgrade I have been forced to look elsewhere.
The 76 series v8 was my final choice and while I am yet to do any serious off-roading I am very impressed with the finish and performance of the v8.
2017 gxl model so also the beneficiary of the taller 2nd and 5th gear.

A question for any that may be able to assist.
The radio antenna retracts flush with the guard when ignition is off but with accessories on or engine running the antenna will only retract to about 3 to 4 inches above flush despite using the manual control button.
Toyota dealer here in Cairns have told this is normal however I am having trouble believing an antenna can’t be fully retracted on a running 4x4.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Paul.

Hi Paul Not many v8 76 series owners on here , except Tapage in Panama. There might be a reason for it but I cant think of one and dealers are not known for being too honest or knowledgable.

Thanks for that.
Oh well looks like I will have to put some sort of manual switch in the circuit.

Thanks again.
Cheers.

That's interesting. My 80 series did that too before I removed it for a cb antenna

If I had to guess (and I do), I believe it is so the radio has at least a little reception for times when you need the mast retracted because of brush and such.
