Everyone,

Thanks for all the info. Exactly what I was looking for. Those of you who have the time and knowledge really do make a HUGE difference to those of us who lack experience, but have desire to learn. I will be calling Dan today for a 'laundry list' of PM items. I would like to do the work myself, but am just not comfortable I have the skills quite yet. I cannot say that I am psyched to be dropping a HUGE amount of cash on this repair. However, I am a excited to have my rig effectively 'dialed in' for quite some time to come. Thanks again for the patience and assistance.

Hope this doesn't sound too much like an afterschool special, but could not have done it without the help.

For what it's worth, Corteco does make an aftermarket HG for the 1FZFE. Part#200131. I have no experience with it (or any other corteco products), therefore cannot recommend for/against it.

I would detail why I know this info, but I don't have my flamesuit with me. Maye later...
 
didn't somebody just post that they needed 2 HG jobs in a row?
would that be with the new HG on the second try?
 
I've been searching for a while and I cannot find the post I remember reading from a guy from UAE who says they use 2 Toyota head gaskets with a custom-made metal head gasket in between for their turbo'd rigs. Can anyone find this post and post it here? Or, if the guy who posted from the UAE is reading this, please post more info. What do you guys think of this approach?
