My Land Cruiser is finally communications capable. It is UHF VHF HF D-Star capable based on my ICOM radio and my Kenwood TS 480 radio. The antenna consists of one hatch mounted Ham stick for HF and another hatch mounted comet small 1/4 wave whip.

Initial testing was impressive. I talked from San Diego to Australia on 10 Meters with good signal reports.

I will post more photos of the antenna setup soon.

I also had installed a Kenwood DNX 7140 navigation system with backup camera. Finally my 99 cruiser has been brought up to the 21st century!

Here are some of the antenna photos.

Nice radios! I have a TS-480 also and really like it. 10 Meters has been open and booming lately.

Where did you mount your TS 480 in your 80?

Can you post some pictures of your antenna setup....

I no longer have an 80. In my 40, I mounted my radios to the roll cage, but it's too noisy to operate HF mobile so I just pack the TS-480 and a Buddipole and operate portable off of truck power when I'm camped or stopped.

Bump would love to see antenna setup and mounting....
