I recently ordered a new wheel from the dealership. The one I received is slightly off in color tone. The original wheels on mine have a more gold or yellowish hue. Have any of you experienced this? The dealership is researching the issue. I made sure to shop using my vin. For reference this is the part I ordered-PT960-60200-05. Is it possible that polishing and adding a ceramic coat to the existing could this much of a difference?

That’s the same part number I bought for my spare HE wheel. I’ve ceramic coated mine with gtechniq wheel (whatever they call it) and can’t say it looks any different than the others. Is the in person view quite as stark as the pics? Sometimes lighting can play up or down differences. Over time, I’d imagine you could see a difference due to UV/element exposure. But your mounted wheels look to be in excellent shape. I’m wondering if they have slowly changed the color at the factory due to different lots, etc? It also could be that once you get the new one coated and mounted, the difference will be minimal. Either way, I’m glad you were able to source a fifth wheel and it arrived undamaged.

Good to know there is such a color difference. If I ever happen on a used set for my ‘17, I’ll ask about color because I prefer the darker shade.

I purchased the wheels from a Toyota dealership online because they offered the best price. This morning, after speaking with Toyota parts support, they informed me that the discrepancy was likely due to a production run difference. My local dealer looked the wheels and confirmed the noticeable difference. The online dealer is assisting me with a return and is being accommodating. However, they are unwilling to ship me another one due to the risk of color mismatch and the associated cross-country shipping costs. I plan to order another wheel and remain optimistic for a better outcome though I am concerned because the dealership is hesitant to take the risk that the color may not be possible to match. Hopefully they haven’t changed the color.

I have my 4Runner wheels coated with Gtechniq as well, and it has not altered their color. I acquired my 200 used, but I can tell that they’ve been coated just not sure with what.

I didn’t notice a difference after coating mine either, but haven’t used any of the other offerings available. I was hoping that’d be related to what you were dealing with in color differences. The production lots being slightly different in color makes sense to me. I can’t blame the dealer being hesitant to ship another that’s the same color when it’s likely you’re going to be mismatched again.

Would it look terribly noticeable when you ultimately get it on your 200? The space may be enough to make it less stark.

It is noticeable but probably just to LC enthusiasts.

Just a quick update that the second wheel I ordered also doesn’t match the original wheels. I’ve contacted Toyota corporate to see if they can help source a matching rim. They are working with my local dealership. More to come….

Is it going on a rear carrier or simply underneath the car? I have one originally purchased as a 5th spare back in 2021, however, it was used in rotation and on trails so it's not in perfect condition. It will most certainly be the cheapest heritage wheel you could find if you are interested. Being local you'd obviously be able to see the color in person first

Thats a generous offer and super cool of you, thanks! I plan to move the gouged wheel to the spare and add the new one as one of the primary 4. Let me see what Toyota says and I may be reaching out to you if they can’t procure a matching color. Btw your rig looks amazing.
