What are the bumpstops for?

I don't know... Maybe to keep from reverse arching my springs, and to keep from fawking up my shocks!! :flipoff2:

Those Bilstiens shocks aren't too expensive, but if I ain't got to fawk them up, my wife would appreciate it.

Looks good John.

I might suggest that you reinforce the ends of the shock cross tube, and reinforce the tube as well.... I was surprised at the force that was applied.

When I did mine exactly lilke yours, it took two wheeling trips to crack near the weld at the frame (yes it was welded good)

A year later (10-12 trips) the tube cracked. :(

Alright Chris, you advised and I did. Here is the extra bracing, whatcha think???

I also got the driver side front shock hoop and shock installed... Now just got to get the other side done too.

Looks stout! Gonna gusset and/or cross brace (truss) the hoops? :D

For the rear cross bar, i went with just a single .250 2x2 angle instead of doing lighter weight angle on each side due to space issues. If that don't hold, I am just too rough on this thing!!

I installed the back braces the TG provided with the kit, but I am debating adding a upper crossbar over the engine inside since I am already cutting the inner fender well anyway. I might just do an extra brace tube on each side to the frame like the ones on it now. what you think?

here is the pic with the braces pointed out. They are hard to see since they blend into the background so well.

You coming to the Roundup?
Butch

Hell yea!!! Wouldn't miss it!! Besides I can't wait to see what this thing will do with all the new suspension on it.

ahhh- you're right, I missed those.

Carry on!

Thanks Chris. I do like the idea of the cross over bar inside the engine compartment. I might try to do that to it if I have enough time.

Still gotta get the rear seats put in place for the kiddos on the trail. My understanding for Katemcy is that you have to have seat belts for everyone in the vehicle. And I don't want to break any rules!! SO if I can get the seats in and cage back on, I will look at bracing some stuff a little more up front.

The steering still has a little tweeking to do too. Does anybody with SFA have too much trouble with bump steer on the road? I am hoping all the bump steer I had going to my brother's place is due to not having shocks on the truck at all. I just drove really slow.

Also is anybody else running hydro assist on their rigs? Just curious of how everything worked out for them. Mine has some issues that I need to work out. Namely the double volume steering fluid can leaks out the top pretty bad on extreme forward slopes. (it started pouring out when I went down an almost vertical 6' wall of dirt)

Ok, no pics to post, but I got the front drive shaft finished and painted. But not installed, still waiting for the paint to dry.;)

Got the pass. side shock hoop and shock installed, got the steering tweeked, and put the paint on the rest of the installed parts. Really alot done, just doesn't look like it. Should have the bed back on tomorrow and the kids seats installed. Just need to track down some lap belts to hold the kids down.:D

Hope to have a few of them there picture thangs for ya'll tomorrow. Hopefully I will have the cage back on tomorrow too.:bounce: :bounce:

Then on to getting the tow rig and trailer ready for the long haul...

TO KATEMCY!!!!!:bounce2: :bounce2: :bounce2: :bounce2:

Ok, I know I promised photos, but worked so damn much and so damn hard, I forgot to take any. Oh well. I'll try to get some tonight.

I got the front drive shaft installed, rear sq driveshaft built and ready to be installed. The bed, cage, and bumpers are back on. The only thing left is the seats in the bed for the kids. I got the seats, just can't find a set of (lap) seat belts for them. Anybody got any Cheap ones they aren't using??:grinpimp:

I have thought about running by a junk yard this weekend to see if I can find any out of an old pickup or van. Don't need anything nice, just something that will work.

Quick question though.. If anybody has done a SAS, did their truck lean to the pass side? It isn't much, but I can tell it leans a little looking at the front. I am thinking it is the 3/8" pad that you weld to the spring perch. I think that is about the difference from ones side to the other. Of course it may just be that the driver side springs haven't settled as much as the pass side.

Mine leaned to the driver's side, just like it did stock and like they all do... but your gas tank & battery are on the passenger side, correct?

Your right. The Batt and the tank are both on the pass side. It might level out, but if it doesn't who cares... this set up is so much better than ther IFS....

OK it's back together and ready.. I think. Here is the final product. I think it is still going to set lower in the rear, but oh well. I can figure that one out later. Got a quick shot of the front drive shaft. And of course I had to put my signature "flag" on the rear Diff.

Here's my worthless opinions sir ...

Truck sits up right nice now ...

Your exo-cage has always kicked ass ...

The lil' TX flag on the rear pumpkin's cool ...

Square front driveshafts are quite fashionable ...

Paint job sucks. :flipoff2:

Sure would look better in OD Green. :grinpimp:

Carry on.
