Hey everyone new here and to working on vehicles I need a question answered I received a cluster supposedly from same model and year (1994 kzn130 auto) but the speedo only has four screw connections not six my old one had..Ive tried the speedo in both clusters the odo worked in the six hole cluster but no speed.

Speedo and odo doesn't work at all in four hole cluster.

My question is are the other two screw holes just for Tbelt reset the other four connections have all the same markings on both clusters so it should work right? Fella I brought it of is adamant it worked before selling to me…

Any help would be greatly appreciated tia.

Is one cable driven and the other electric? One from a petrol and one from a diesel? Not sure about the N130 but on the equivalent pickups they were cable driven from 89 to 91, electric from 92 to 94, then cable again from 95 to 97 (approximate dates).

At the end of the day, you've got a different part and it seems they are not compatible.

No I don’t think so didn’t see the donner truck the four screw version came from though, all looks electric my geuss is that toyota changed the clusters part way through the year 94 mabe🤷‍♂️

Is there a 10 digit or 5 digit Toyota part number on each of the instrument clusters?

Format will probably be xxxxx-89xxx or xxxxx-35xxx, possible just the last 5 digits.

As far as I can tell, they are both for a 91-95 VZN130 (3.0 V6 petrol). -35460 is the Aussie spec, -35360 is the JDM spec. The difference might be something like a reverse chime connection.

Interesting they both come from 1kz mabe swapped out at one stage? Would that stop the speedo?

If you can find a part number on the printed circuit film that might be more useful. The instrument clusters are not catalogued parts as they were only sold in pieces, so I am making an assumption that the part numbers of the circuit films are consistent with the cluster.

Not sure my part number referencing is correct though, are they definitely diesel clusters (with water trap light and glow plug light)?

Dont think either have glow or water trap light so they must be from petrols? my original cluster the six hole one did work till I went to put a swith on back of circuit and messed it up just want a working one again lesson learnt 🤦‍♂️
