Help with fuel door cable - Fixed!

I picked up my 80 today from the shop and noticed the fuel door wouldn't open. It felt like it had play in it. When I opened the jack compartment and pried back the metal flange I noticed the following: How should that cable be attached? Should that ball be snug up against the bracket that pulls back to open the fuel door? Any simple solutions to fix?

After looking closer at yours it looks the same as mine. I will have to look under the dash and see if it has come loos there.

I ended up getting this issue fixed. There's a clamp that hold the two cables (fuel door/hood latch) that come off the levers under the dash. They hold the cables in place. By adjusting the fuel door cable I was able to get it taught again and get rid of the slack at the fuel door.
