I am shopping for 315-75-16 tires to fit some LX450 wheels I picked up from another member. I have read endless threads on the 80'section and it seems that tires preference is like beer:beer:, everyone has their brand and will give a buddy sh..it for drinking natty light, but will drink one if it is handed to them.

Looking for a Cooper stt, hancook mt, Nitto mt, bfg mt etc. or similar. My rig is not a daily driver but I do want to get to the trail drving 70mph and not wander all over and be able to hear the stereo if possible. Will also be putting my stock wheels and definity mt 285's with 70% tread mounted and balanced up for sale soon.

Anybody know of someone selling in San Diego area or any shops offering good deals at the moment? Local experence or comments appreciated on tire choice.

I don't know of any deals, but I can comment on the BFG MT KM2's. I just switched from 33" BFG AT's to 35" KM2's. No significant noise increase. Some loss of braking ability (probably due to tire weight - I think you might experience this with any 35" MT tire). Freeway friendly on my recent trip to the Dusy. AMAZING off-road performance. I aired down to 15lbs and they stuck like glue to the rocks. Overall, I'm very pleased with my choice.

Good luck on deciding/finding your tires!

I have been looking at the KM2 but can't seem to find them for less than $320 a tire, other quality brands I have seen for $250 each. Still looking trying to save a few hundred $'s

Once you decide on a tire call Amato Tires in Laguna Niguel. Hands down the best price out the door and just great service. I recently priced 4 BFG AT's for my sons cruiser and the cheapest I could find the tires online was $722.00 and I had to pick them up in Cerritos. Amato's price was $736.00 installed, tax, disposal....

May try this

I may try this if it could pencil out for gas costs since I am in SD. Good lead, keep them coming, hopefully closer to SD.

What are you looking to pay for a set of 315s?

Too much $

What are you looking to pay for a set of 315s?

I was hoping to be around $260 per tire, but not sure that will happen with the mounting balancing etc. Looks more like $320 + per tire.

Thats a good deal, other good deals their as well. Did they mount and balance them for you or did you just pick up and mount locally? I could not tell from the site.

This is the same place I checked online. If you pick them up it will be in Cerritos and you will pay tax plus gas to get there or you can pay no tax but pay to have them drop shipped to your installer. Did you get a quote from Amato Tire yet, I am betting they are lower than anyone when you take into consideration, tax, installation, disposal, time and gas money.

I'll be checking both, still hoping someone has a good option locally to avoid shipping and setting up a local installer.

As you know, mine will be available when I can put together some $ to buy new ones, hopefully in the next few months.

Not sure if you have interest in my wheels/ tires and some cash.

I have chromed anniversary wheels that need some attention and I have Pep Boys brand dakota definety 285/75/16 (Cooper rebrand) with about 70% tred on three and 85% on a puncture replacement.
My spare is an old bfg mt I picked up for $20.

Now painting wheels.

After cleaning up the wheels I picked up, I think I am going to have them blasted to get rid of the brake dust and beginning of the corrision getting under the clear. Not sure what color to go once blasted. Their not bad on the face, but the backs are really bad. Looked into cost and it is not as much as I thought but still alot. I figured if I am going to drop alot on the tires I should make sure the wheels are good to go. Thinking black chrome, satin black, or just plain gun metal. What looks best with a white cruiser?

Shoot me a text or PM with some numbers and I'll consider it. Would have to be a pretty good deal as that setup would be very temporary for me.

Call Patrick at Linco in Anaheim. Her does a tremendous amount of wheel stripping for wheel companies using soda ash. Last time I had single piece wheels done by them it was $10/wheel. The also powdercoat very reasonably.

best I could find in my area was $50 per powder coated.

Just to clarify, they strip the wheels for $10 each. Powdercoating was $40 each.

wheels off to powder coat

Was going to rattle can the wheels myself, but all the labor involved cleaning them was too much, so I decided to get them blasted. Powder coat was only a few buck more if I would chose a stock color. so powder coat it is. Was going to go silver or dark grey but ended up chosing a 50% gloss black just like half of the white cruisers in town. My thought was I could easily touch up like I have with my sliders and bumpers which are all a semi gloss black powder coat.

Still considering tire options and the options suggested above.
