If you haven't picked up on it yet here, there are not alot of fans of the 2LT. That being said, if I was you I would buy it if it looks good to you and start saving/gathering a replacement engine/drive train. Don't know what engines will bolt up to a 2LT transmission, so I can't help you there. A 1HZ/H55F seems like a good option but you will need a heavy duty front end to make room for the longer engine. 13B-t might be a good option or a 1KZ class. If you don't plan on going big on tires and hard core wheeling then the axles and such probably will hold up just fine. The price is right to start a project I think, especially if you can get the price down some more.

Crushers will love this... the older 2LT head (roller rocker type) is pretty much a thing of the past. Crack that one and you might just have to get the later bucket and shim head - if it even bolts up.

The price is right.

i have a 2l-t with 285000kms on it. without problems.

slow (really slow), less reliable than a 1hz or 3b or 13bt, but not a piece of crap.

Yes ,its not a forgone conclusion they will fail. I know someone with 246000 klms at last count and no problems.
