Help importing 70 series into Portugal

Hi guys,
This is kind of a random question but I recently moved to Portugal with my '05 HDJ100 and 1980 FJ40. I am trying to figure out how to buy a 70 series for Portugal which ironically is where they make them for EXPORT but they are not homologated for Europe and do not have the needed "COC" (certificate of conformity). Has anyone find a way to register one of the newer models (or even new) such as LC76 in Portugal? Portugal has a crazy tax model for cars and makes it one of the most expensive places in Europe for anything that is not EV, PHEV or has cubic inches and diesel (unless Euro 6 crazy expensive). Hoping someone has an idea....or done this already and knows the way....just drove 3200km in my 100 and nearly 30mpg and 'breaking in' at around 320,000km...the best!

I am Portuguese and live in Portugal . Portuguese tax system is crazy indeed , but has a few loopholes you can explore . For example , if you came to live in Portugal and your definitive and only residence will be here with no economic activity outside Portugal , I think you will be tax exempt from registering one vehicle only . The other one will be import taxed . But my best suggestion is for you to contact an agency that has experience dealing with that paperwork . Lots of those agencies , as Portugal imports lots of used cars from Europe . These guys have good reputation Documentação Automóvel e Legalização de Viaturas | Autodoc - https://www.autodoc.pt/ . If you come from a country outside EU ( UK , Switzerland, Norway ) , things will bem more expensive . In that case , the best solution is to register the cars in a EU country where import taxes are cheaper ( Spain ) , and later , importing and registering them in Portugal ! Good Luck !
