Hi all!

I am in the process of buying a LC80 that is in a far city from where i leave. The price is right and i am buying it even before testing it. But i see from the photos some confusing facts (at least to me. I am not that experienced in Toyota LC80 model list.)

This is an 80 series. Turbo Diesel, Manual Gears and the part that is confusing me is the fact that it has free hubs. Manual Hubs and not permanent 4x4.

isn't this a GX feature? and where there GX with the 4.2 Turbo charged engine? What models? what year?

Can someone help please?

That's silly to buy something without testing it and without knowing what you're buying.

I know some of the Australian cruisers had part time 4x4 and an HF1A transfer case.

That is an HDJ80. RHD. 1HD-T engine. H151F transmission. HF1A transfer case (part time). Full floating rear axle. Factory electric winch.

The freewheel hubs only came with the HF1A part time transfer case.

More than likely 1990-1994 model year as the front grille changed in 1995.

Good platform. Very robust.

Wau! Thanks Beno for your enlightening answer.

Can i have your assistance for just one or two more questions please?

I would like to know how does the HF1A with the freewheel hubs work. Can you explain to me o direct me to a place where i can learn about?
So, the car has a 2H that puts power only on the back wheels is this it? Then a 4H (where i need to stop first to lock the hubs) and then i have the central lock pushing power also to the front wheels? and then the 4L for low range?

Is this it?

and the Full floating rear axle? how does this work?

Thanks for your help!

That’s it. Also, all 80 series had solid axles from the factory. The 100 series was the first with IFS. 105 series still kept solid axles.

One thing to ask about on the 1HDT is if the BEB’s have been replaced. If they can’t show you receipts for it, then you can use that to work the price down some.

thank you all.
I opted to go with another option.
am HDJ100 1999 4.2 Turbo Diesel.

Thanks all
