Did you end up moving the panhard bar?

I ended up throwing my wallet at it at a solid 98mph and 3 linking w/ coilovers.

Good god man. You do all the work yourself? Did you making a write up? What kind of mods did you do to your wallet to with stand that kind of speed?

You can prepare, but I would expect total incineration of your wallet upon re-entry to the to the earth's atmosphere.
If I had to guess:
A 9.5" Cruiser rear axle converted to front axle ~$10k
A custom coilover 3-link ~$10k

Looks like a fabricated front housing. Doubt it was $10k. The coil over 3-link/steering could be pushing it though. Either way, not a cheap mod! Looks f**king tits, though.

Did you have someone do it for you or garage fab life?

Got the 9.5" diamond axle from a dude on Mud who has built a true monster of an 80 as well. Deans80 (sp?) - luckily it was fully built and for a price I couldn't say no to.

The 3 link was not done by me, I'm nowhere near qualified enough to make beauty like that happen. The fab work was done by a local legend here in NC. Chris over at Mars Fab. Dude produced pure beauty on his first 3 link 80. One day if I save up enough I'll work on modding the rear wheel well tubs and relocating the gas tank and we'll do a 4 link rear w/ possibly a tundra axle.

I've got a build thread but I don't keep up with it well at all. I'll add some more soon.

Brain at Diamond could build you a Tundra axle housing. May as well buy that girl another diamond.

All in on that Tundra diamond is like 7k. I'm gonna have to go SLOW there so I can stay married.

Completely understand that my friend!

How does it handle on the road with the 3link and hi steer vs the factory setup? I want to do all the above aside from the custom axle but I want my wife to be able to drive it in a pinch

Mine handles perfect! Wife drives mine to work every so often just because shes trying to " look cool". I have no fear of her driving mine.

Mine handles like a champ as well. Slight oversteer, you will have to countersteer a little bit otherwise it wants to pull you into the turn at higher speeds. Drive it for a day and you get used to what you have to do.

My handling has gotten a bit more learning intensive now though with hydro assist. Now I have no give in the steering wheel before I'm moving so highway driving is bordering on twitchy/touchy.

Oh hydro assist! Did you use a kit or did you piece it together? I have been driving with no sway bars for years in both my fj’s. So I’m sure I would be fine. My biggest concern was for the family being safe with my mods.

Mostly a PSC kit, got their ram & reservoir, a shop that is local to us had their contacts get the lines. Got the derale cooler and also through that shop got a redhead steering box to freshen up the system.
