I guess it would depend on the amp draw of the OEM horns compared to the new Hellas. If the Hellas will draw more juice than the stock horns, run the relay.

They are not plug and play on my 85 60 but close - they will mount in stock location but the wiring connections are spaced differently than the stock plugs.....someone posted with a photo of both - you just could not see the back of them and the connections.

They Hellas are Plug and play, I just installed mine last week the connectors are diffrent. My Fuse had blown while I was installing them other than that they got a nice LOUND sound to them.

So you tossed the relay that came with the horns? I just got mine in and am not much of an electrical or mechanical wiz. Any help is appreciated!

Ditto, Any help is appreciated.

I wired it 1st with the relay, then treid it with the stock wiring, horn worked the same and was no louder with the relay, so I left it with the stock wiring.

Yep, I just hooked them up and did not use the relay. Although I blew the fuse for the horns all I did was replace it and Voila!

Just got my horns Friday evening. I was not sure how to hook them up. Thanks for the info pimp. Any pics?

can you hookup two sets of these to one vehicle?

e

I don't see why not, use stock wiring for one, and provided relay's for the second.

I installed two Hellas (kit with relay) on my FJ62. Bought them from the high dollar Griots Auto mag. I also ordered the Italian Air horn just to satisfy my curiosity. Well, I hooked 'em all up and couldn't be happier. The air horn smooths out the Hellas and adds a bit of kick to them. I couldn't fit the air horn in front of the radiator but it is still effective. Go to the 3FE site and look at the files section. There are two pics and an AVI file with video and sound. Hear it for yourself.

End result... people move the hell out of the way and my wife cringes when I hit the horn. Problem solved.

Last comment, The Hellas could be moved a little closer to the middle of the grill for more effect. Use a strip of thin metal for a mounting bracket. I tied them directly to the battery via the relay.

Good luck.

I still hit my horn on occasion. I still want to get a set, sounds easy enough to install. Thanks for the info. I use my horn on a daily bases here in socal. People seem to always run the red lights. I wish I could bring an AT-4 "anti tank" weapon for those they don't speak Marine, home from works and light those drivers up.

SizzleChest,
