Heater core cleaning/removal?

if it heats sitting still and cools while running i would look at the gasket that sits on top of the thermostat. does your temp gauge drop considerably?

On a cold day, it takes a long time for the temp needle to come up, and I do seem to remember that it drops when the truck is moving.

it usually will drop some when moving but if it drops waaaaay down like to almost halfway or more its probably the t stat gasket
