A rock broke my pass side low beam glass lens.
I have the replacement headlight unit, but am having trouble removing the original headlight unit.
Since I have the new unit, I can see where the screws are that hold it in. The last screw I need to remove is at the bottom near where the turn signal corner lite and the low beam come together. I think I can remove it if I could remove the corner light unit.
My questions:
1. How do you remove the turn signal corner light? I removed the top screw, but not sure what to do next.
2. There is a plastic trim piece that runs below the headlights and comes up between the low beam and high beam. It appears to need to be removed before the HL unit will come out.

I have searched and found several posts but none on the 2001 LX. I do have the Repair Manuals but they do not address Headlight Removal. Could not find any pictures showing how to do the job.

Any help would be appreciated. :bang:

I'd like to know how the corner marker comes out as well. As far as I can see, it's held on by one screw. I'm trying to find a good place to mount my HID ballast, and I decided Hoser's method was best.

1. after removing the screw, you kinda palm the corner lamp and pull direct towards the front of the vehicle. There will be a little resistance.

2. sorry, it's been awhile but I "think" I was able to unfasten just part of the trim you speak of and slide the headlamp out.

I finally got the corner light out. There is a clip (not sure of the correct term) down low between the low beam and the corner light. Push the center of it toward the outside and the corner light slides out. Easier said than done. Hard to get access. Very tight and my hands are not small.
The headlight unit can then be worked out without removing the trim.
Easy once you see how it is done.

Do be somewhat careful when removing the corner lights. I broke one of the brackets that the screw goes through to hold the corner light on when I was removing them. I took both out, but never felt that I really "learned" how to do it. I just kind of unscrewed the screw up top, and yanked them out. One came out fine, the other broke...

On my 2001 LX, the corner lights are held on with a screw at the top and a slip clip (not sure of the correct term) at the bottom.
You must push the clip toward the outside of the car to release.
If you just pull the corner light out without releasing the clip, it looks like it will break.
Since I had the new headlight unit to look at, I was able to figure it out and remove it correctly.

Just finished installed both new Anzo aftermarket headlights on my LX. Pretty straight forward and wanted to say thanks for the prior post. Really happy with the quality and plug and play design.

Cheers!

I just did this on my LX and found that from underneath the truck you can barely access that corner light clip. I could not get mine out until I sprayed the clip with PB Blaster. I think the extra lube helped it slide out of the clip. I went with the Eagle Eyes Black version from eBay.

How were you able to work out the headlight unit? I feel as if the trim is going to break, and can’t for the life of me figure out how to remove if

Ah I just did exactly this! Does anyone know of a compatible replacement part for this push pin? I had to knock it out with a hammer and drift to get it out.

Thanks!

Hey, I'm thinking of swapping out to Anzos as well. How do you like the build quality after all? How's everything holding up? I do see mixed reviews online due to the lack of adjustability.
LMK!

The Eagle Eyes were good for about a year and a half then the clear coat chipped away and started fogging up. They still work although not impressed with the bulbs or projection after having them a while. I polish them every 6 months to keep them looking decent.

Ah, ok...so you think in retrospect, would you have just kept with the stock setup and maybe swapped some LED bulbs? My stock lens needs polishing..

Yes. My factory glass lenses got BB holes from rocks (Houston Freeways) and after replacing one with a used unit both got BB holes from rocks. I was looking for a way out. I still have my old ones and may try replacing the lenses.
