Hey folks, sad day. Just got my HDJ101 back to the States and she couldn’t make the drive home.

Cruising on the highway, heard a clunk, cruise control clicked off and got the lights in the photo. The engine turned off a few seconds later and I coasted it off the road.

With good temps, I’m optimistic the engine’s fine, and there’s no oil or water leaking, belts appear fine. Haven’t tried to start it again.

I drained and filled ~1.5qt of new ATF recently, so I’m worried that might have caused an issue. I always thought it was kind of a myth that changing the fluid could actually cause damage.

Appreciate any help! Tow truck’s on the way.

When you drain and fill transmission are you sure you only drained 1.5 qts? Usually 3.25 - 3.75 qts. drains out unless the HDJ101 trans is different.

If so, 1.5 qts of drain and fill prob not worth the hassle if its a 12quart system. Complete flush and fill would be better.

I used a vacuum pump in the ATF dipstick line rather than the drain plug so I’m fairly sure. I was worried a full flush would more likely to cause issues vs just doing a little fresh fluid at a time
