Some context: Vehicle was off. I opened the driver door, unlocked the passenger doors (interior switch), opened the left rear passenger door, a few seconds go by and - boom - horn starts going off along with the hazards. I pulled the negative battery terminal, left it alone for 10-20 minutes, then reattached the negative terminal. Immediate horn/hazards.

I disconnected the horn connectors and reconnected the negative battery terminal again - now only the hazards are going off (as expected). Reading a few similar threads, a common theme is to clean the ground connections - my question is, what/where are those in this case? For the horns, is it simply the bracket that connects to the body? If so, it seems clean enough already...

I don't believe there are any aftermarket security/alarm systems lurking anywhere, as I'm sure it would have presented itself within the last 2 years of ownership. I've done the same opening/unlocking procedure as stated above dozens of times - first time something like this has happened.

look under the driver's seat for the alarm system. Pull it out by the roots like the horrible diseased weed it is.

Reconnected the negative terminal to set it off again. I tried to lock the door from the outside with the key and realized I can't?? Uh oh. Key only turns to the right to unlock. Not sure how I haven't noticed this yet. I have keys only, no fobs.

Any other suggestions besides deleting the whole thing entirely? I'd like to avoid that if possible.

I found an old cruiserdan comment that suggested turning the key to on, then off, twice in succession. That did the trick. Not sure what I did to set the alarm off in the first place, however!
