Has anyone try the TPI Air locker?

Hey,

1989 FJ62 Auto w/330K miles. Next project is locking rear diff. Looking at mechanical lockers-Lock Right, Powertrax, etc. More interested in keeping the cost down and my projected driving will be <25mph around town (asphalt/dirt) and lots of logging roads/single track in our mountains in Central Idaho. I understand that most folks default to the ARB air lockers w/compressor but trying to keep costs down.

I came across TPI Land Cruiser and their TPI Air Locker. Does anyone have experience with this unit? Thoughts?

Thanks,
Brian K

Haven't tried them personally. They are a Chinese knock off of the first older style ARB locker. I saw these on Ali Baba years ago after ARB
changed the design. The manifold was repositioned on opposite side if the ring gear for the new version. I preferred the old routing personally.
From old descriptions the Chinese used Chromoly on certain internals vs 300m for ARB. 300m is stronger but if you're not doing the hammer trails and
the Chinese manufacturer is honest in their description, you should be OK. I have six ARBs in three trucks that have be used since the mid to late 90s.
Never had a failure yet so I look at that investment as paid for. Besides, an ARB, back then was under 500.00 when the Aussie dollar was 70 cents

I know what I'm getting me for Xmas now! 😁
You may not be alone! I’m gathering parts for a York onboard air setup for my 60 and my 40.
