In the process of doing some wiring on my 60, I noticed the dash trim panel had some cracks in it. I have glued them back together and am now considering a fresh coat of black paint at the A/C-heat control area and then a new clear coat over the original tan (in lieu of a new reproduction trim piece). Has anyone done this before? I am stuck in analysis paralysis over a matt finish versus a gloss finish.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have been wondering the same thing…

Personally I have decided against painting mine. If it’s not painted from factory i wouldn’t paint it, you are also going to possibly deal with paint chipping and cracking.

I like the look of everything being factory.

Go for it….cerakote it if worried about durability
