I just bought a 700w xantrex xpower inverter and wondering what gauge of wire I should use to hard wire it. 6g or 8g??..I am going to run the wire directly from the battery with a 50amp fuse...anything else I should be concerned about??

that's true but I don't won't to overkill since it will be a PITA to route a thick wire to the rear..

I had enough room in the floor jams and behind the trim to run 2 protected 4ga wires from front to back. That was a little tight, so you should have plenty of room, amd especially if you just tap the ground in the rear.

50 amps at 12 vdc = 600 watts

to get 700 watts ac from dc it is my experienced opinion you will need at least 65 - 70 amps DC

Well here is what I did:

As far as wire, its pretty easy. Use this to find your ideal wire gauge. ALWAYS wire for the maximum even if you will never actually use all the 700W at one time. Also remember that when determining wire gauge by length of run, its in BOTH directions. This is because you MUST run pos/neg both to the battery. Then make sure your fuse is as close to the battery as you can get it.
