Son is moving. I'm looking for a heavy duty hand truck to move appliances and a gun safe. Any recommendations? I have a small one but is to light for the safe.

If the gun safe isn't any heavier than the refrigerator, any hand truck will work. The ones that convert to a dolly are nicest, but also most expensive. Most all moving rental companies also rent them. I wouldn't buy one unless I knew I need it more than once.

If the safe is a real safe, you'll need a commercial hand truck. Or a forklift.

I have forklifts and loaders. Trying to bring the Liberty Fat Boy out of the basement is what I'm thinking about.

Build a ramp on the stairs and winch it up. That's how geniuses (and I use that term generously) build machine shops in their basements. I do not have a basement.

Or you could just reverse the method you used to get it down there...

I have always used a heavy-duty flat (furniture) dolly for my gub safe. Two-three people can lift it on. Actually about to move mine again, from the shop into the house.

Check rental places for a set of safe dollies (aka machinery movers/dollies). Got a deal on these a few years ago and have only used a couple of times but they make moving a heavy safe easy.
