Hello all,

I’ve been a long time lurker and first time poster. I just wanted to give some positive feedback to Hamilton Motor Company for their customer service that I received last week.

I purchased a new to me 2009 LC and one of the first things I felt I wanted to fix was the infotainment system. I purchased the Hamilton Car Play system a couple of weeks ago. I initially tried to install Thursday evening last week and found that I received the wrong system. This was after I followed the YouTube video on how to disassemble the dashboard.

I called them late in the afternoon Thursday and left a message. About an hour later I received a call from John at HMC. After a brief conversation, we concluded that my particular LC which was a January 2009 production truck had an 07/08 factory radio. John was kind enough to overnight me the proper system and a return label for the old system.

The following evening, the new system installed fine, but I had an issue getting the sound to work at all. I called Saturday morning leaving a message. I received a call back about an hour later, this time from Hunter. After a few minutes Hunter had me sorted out with the correct connections and the system was up and running.

I really appreciate how quick and responsive HMC was with my two issues. So far the HMC systems is working well, but as noted with other posts here and on Reddit the factory screen is the biggest let down. It just was not designed for swiping.

Defn agree on HMC customer service: top notch.

I’ve given up trying to swipe or press the little page dots. Finally broke down and use Siri to launch apps. Or I launch em on my phone and CarPlay picks em up.

Curious if you guys have the standard or streaming version and if it's been stable/reliable since installation?

Also curious if anyone has any experience Autu Vone / AUTU IEXUS. Chinese offerings with 2 versions but can be purchased through Amazon (rather than Temu / WhatsApp transaction). Heard about it from TurboKengo's IG:

(Hopeful) Last question: how difficult would you rate the install. Going to start doing oil changes and installing the Hamilton seems like just being careful with removing the difference interior pieces and confirming the different connectors are plugged in.

Only thing "custom" deviation from standard install was drilling a hole in the top of the phone charger slot to run the update/wired connection through. Imagine the top is also the better approach since the floor has all the charging components.

The install was not bad. I followed the YouTube video for taking the dashboard apart. The headache for me was matching the wiring connections. The diagram wasn’t the most intuitive. I just started matching components to the wiring harness. The last headache was getting the proper sound connections made. The videos were useless for me since my truck had an 07/08 head unit which meant the wiring was different. Same for the online instructions.

Once I talked to Hunter the next day he had me sorted and the sound was working properly. So far so good. I havent had a ton of time with it since I’m dealing with a leaking axel. 😑

I installed my Hamilton CarPlay unit last week - my only complaint is I cannot figure out how to lower the volume of navigation (Google or Apple Maps) relative to the music (I listen to music pretty loud and I’d prefer Siri not yell directions to me).

Other interactions with Siri occur at a lower volume but the unit can’t seem to adjust voice guidance.

I’ve tried all of the solves in there YouTube videos and have an open ticket with them. I’ll follow up if I get it resolved.

Sorry I can’t help you there. I keep my nav muted mainly because the prompts are annoying and over done imho. I’m sure they’ll do their best to help!
