Wow !! This is evolving more than I thought COOL !!

I will not have my TNC fixed for SNT and am holding out for the new VX-8R from Yaseu which has had it's ship date pushed back again :( so I wont have a working system at SNT.

So, why don't we all set a time for Saturday afternoon after the Poker Run maybe 2:00 ISH or later for a demo or at least to see each other's gear.

Is there someone who would like to use their rig/gear as a host/meet point???

BTW: I'll try to monitor 146.460 Simplex if there are any changes while at SNT.

We can probably plan to meet behind the main tent around 2-3PMish. Lets use the simplex frequency to comm and figure it out at SnT.

I would be able to see where danbino is, if his APRS is on. Unfortunately he won't be able to see my position on his GPS unit, but my location should be on his radio.

We can probably do a few demos between the radios, like messages and show the other stations location on my GPS. I also want to test out the automatic tunign to the APRS station's frequency while we are at it :D

No I just need to record names and callsigns before going down to SnT.

I will also see if I can organize with a guy in Vegas to test long distance APRS messages and emails while on the beach (hope we can hit a digi good from there).
 
Hope you guys can pull this off - I'd like to see the set up and see if my Garmin Streetpilot with my Yaesu FT-8800R can be configured.

Oh man that blows. It would have been good to have at least one other beacon station out there.


I was able to hit digipeaters relatively easily when I was at Pismo a month ago. Doesn't seem to be an issue. Just check an APRS site with my call sign this weekend. aprs.fi is a good site to track someone.

My callsign is in my sig :grinpimp:
 
I found my radio that I used but I have no idea where the rest of my gear went.:censor: Does anyone know of prebuilt system I can buy? I see all the tinytrackers and suck but I suck at assembly of those little pieces. Would like a whole system add power and go.
 
Well we never met up at Pismo. I briefly saw Brent at the bathrooms on Sunday though.

Either way check out Login - Google Maps APRS and then track my tracks for the last 2 days or so. My callsign is in my sig. Looks even more interesting if you use the Terrian maps.

Anyway we can try again sometime.
