H55F transmission shifter help

I’ve been tackling this problem for the past hour with no progress, I’m stuck on getting the shifter collar out to remove the shifter anybody has any tips? This thing is pretty hard to depress and turn at the same time, it’s counter clockwise right?? I also had another question about the transmission, when pulling the engine out I noticed the whole transmission is angled and was wondering if that’s normal…

Thanks for the transmission info.. as useful as that tool looks I’m not in a position where I can get it easily, located in the gcc, ordering that part will take over a month to get here.

How To Easily Remove Your Gear Shifter

This is my 4 speed FJ40 tranny and how I removed the shifter without a hassle. I'm sure there are other methods available but my method worked quickly for me. You will need to experiment to determine if yours is CCW (Counter Clock Wise) or CW (Clock Wise) removal rotation, my 1978 4 speed was CW.

Get yourself an old rubber jar opener and cut a 1/2 inch hole in the center and place it over the gear shifter and run it...

It's a factory Toyota item. I assumed that Toyota's presence in the Middle east was very good

Not everywhere, The Toyota here does not supply ANY parts pre 1998.

Got it out.. Ended up having to cut the top of the collar with a cutoff wheel and get the spring out, that spring simply refused to compress and had plastic pieces wedged in which made it a headache.

I use a pipe wrench.
