GX vs LX ? In my search........

I've noticed the GX series is a 6 lug wheel....

The LX is a 5 lug wheel......

Or at least the ones I've looked at.....any reason ?

Certain year mfg ? Just curious.......

The Land Cruiser/LX has been a 5 lug since 1998. Tundra went there as well. Not sure why.

The GX shares underpinnings with the 4Runner, which also uses a 6 lug setup. Beyond that, I have no idea why they go that route.

Word is (backed up by spy shots) that the next Gen Tundra (2021) will be a 6-lug axle. It's safe to assume that the next Gen LC/LX will share the same components and be a 6-lug as well.

I believe the newer 70 series is also 5 lug. Not sure why, maybe its done to save money? Less parts etc.

just seems the heavier older heavier LC/LX series would use the 6 lug ?
