Hey guys, new here. I just picked up a real nice 04 GX470 and absolutely love it. I'm actually coming from a 2014 Tacoma and honestly don't have any regrets.

One thing I do want to add is a 3.5mm aux jack for the stereo. All I can find is adding one to the non Nav radios. I have zero intentions on keeping the CD player and just want to use my phone. I've read that there's 4 wires at the cd changer that can be spliced into a jack with a relay to retain the CD player function. Could I not just use these 4 wires and leave the cd player unhooked? All my music is in my phone now days and I don't even own any CD's

Save your self a headache, I use this Bluetooth adapter. There is also an aux plug in on it.

Check out these kits: Bluetooth and iPhone/iPod/AUX Kits for Lexus GX 2004-2009 – GTA Car Kits

They offer a Bluetooth + aux kit, and an aux only kit, both simply replace the CD player (use its port on the head unit).

there’s also the option of a beatsonic kit GX 470 - Toyota/Lexus - Stereo Installation Kits - STEREO

It’s much more expensive, but allows you to swap the tape deck for a single din head unit.
Thanks! Just ordered the Beat-sonic kit to replace the tape deck I don't use.

Pioneer makes a series of decks now that have Smart Sync which basically utilizes your phone as a double din screen for the user interface. Going to try that out, at least I'll have clean audio and BT. Ultimately I want a modern double din so I'll start searching for a non van HVAC unit but I doubt I'll ever find one in celcius. I can find American units all day long lol.

Whoa, that sounds super interested. Could you share a link when you find the Pioneer series?

This is the docking style deck, but they make a regular style as well. It works over Bluetooth or connected to USB. The phone can be used anywhere in the vehicle though which would be a game changer for me. Even when I had a double din I generally used my phone to input addresses anyway because it was much quicker.
