2006 lx470 rt hand drive heater valve position heat comes and goes plus noise under dash when shutting down engine

That's my first thought too. Had that happen once in an old truck and same symptoms. Leaking heater Ts? See any pink crust anywhere? You'll need to check the actual level in the radiator when the engine is cold, not just the expansion bottle.
