Hey, I bet if you worked for a few hours you could get enough money for gas

Now, that's funny! I don't care who you are.

I have actually toyed with the idea of driving the GunRunner to GSMTR. I've even enjoyed reading the thread on long distance Cruising.

A few things make me think twice about driving it that far....twice:

1) I've never driven it longer than from my house to Jeff's house which is
about 45 minutes.

2) The oil pressure is reading low anyway, but that may be the gauge.

3) The hard top is in pieces in my attic and could not be fixed in time.
So its a family length bikini top and 1/2 doors only!

4) Those are OEM seats held together with duct tape and cheap covers!!!
Thats an instant IRON BUTT Award and a visit to the Chiorpractor (SP?)

5) I'll be forced to buy some decent, proper fitting windshield wipers!!

6) I have oil leaks from just about everywhere it can leak from.
"Check the gas and fill up on oil??"

7) I'd hate to kill the engine half the way up there and have to spend a fortune
to have it towed home and then the expense of a new or rebuilt mill.
And we may not even make it there!?!?!?

Greg, Let me know if you are serious and what spares we will need.
water pump, oil, dist cap, oil, rotor, oil, points, oil, lots of gas $$

You got to be kidding me! Greg and money? That is like Nolen playing in the NBA

1. First time for everything.
2. Change it, put some Restore in there and go for it.
3. It wouldn't be worth doing if the truck had a hard top on it.
4. Stephens Podel drove around the world on OEM seats. We can drive to Tennessee. I would be willing to bet that we don't the the Iron Butt. Somone else will drive further.
5. I'll buy one, you buy the other.
6. Right.
7. Jes will come get us if we kill it. Probably won't kill it, cause it's a LandCruiser. That one's on you, though. I'm not splitting a new motor if it blows.

I am serious. We can talk spares at the wedding this weekend, but I'm in favor of winging it. I bet gas won't be all that much more than towing it with your company car.

Why not? Let's do it!

Your killin' me man. Killin' me!

I'm out on this one as well. You will all be proud to know that the build is in progress. I either have now or have on the way everything I need to get ole girl ready for the trail. I am way past excited at this point. I was hoping to have her ready for all of your approvals by the next meeting, but I don't think I will have her ready by then. June meeting for sure!!!

Does anyone who is now "out for the trip to GSMTR" have a registration to sell?? I need one if Greg and I are going to set out on this cruiser long range adventure of a lifetime! Holy cow!! I don't believe I'm actually considering this insanity. And at the same time... I cant wait to pull out on the road on 5/18!

Hook me up with some GSMTR registration!

Lash

It's decided. Lash and I will be running guns to GSMTR.

Brian, say the word and we will call in the troops to move yall. There's gotta be a way for yall to make it.

5/18??? You guys may want to head out a little earlier than that. My cruiser doesn't seem to like going much faster than 55 or so.

Just thought I would give you guys an update on the folks that already left. Greg and Lash called from the Choctaw's house at 8:30pm! Seems Lash cot a late start. They stopped by James' to get sliders welded on. Ought to be interesting. They will try to make B-Ham tonight! James and I are leaving at 0430 Wed.

later,
