Looks pretty neat. How stable is it once set up? After you use would be curious to get your feedback. How much space does it take up in folded up mode?

Been down the road with cumbersome kitchens- I like to cook but I value quick camp set-up and breakdown.

Having gone through many setups and chuckboxes, I think I have found what's best for me:

Portable sinks, foot pumps, bulky tables have came & went from my camping gear.

I use the portable kitchen on an extra-large aluminum roll-top table I got from Cabelas. If I am expedition camping, I can just use the kitchen in the back of the truck without the table.

Lid doubles as a sink, lots of my cooking gear (double burner stove with grill & griddle, spices, dry goods, plates, cups, pots/pans/utensils, paper towels, trash bags, etc.) are in there.

May not work for you, but I value efficiency, ease of use, space and my time more than I valued any of the fancy kitchen/sink combos.

I like that unit, the problem is you can't buy them. I have found them on a couple of sites but they are always sold out. :frown:

There seem to be a lot when I googled "campmate kitchen"?

There also was a stack of them at Bass Pro last month or so, I seem to always see them there on my pilgrimages. :)

The manufacturer is Doskocil here in Arlington, maybe email them for a list of current distributors? Maybe even arrange a group buy for MUD?

Just a thought...

I found a lot of hits for "campmate organizer" too, but they were always out of stock. I've moved on to a homebrew solution now.

Pretty much committed to the current course, thanks.

Hey, Dan I've got one of those Campmate boxes if you want to give it a try. We don't use it, so if you want to try it out on Highrock, let me know and we'll figure out a way to get it to you.

Let me know.

Jack

I'll be in touch.

Has anyone tried the camp kitchen at Sam's Club. It looks pretty well thought out and made. It's now $98.00.

Here is a pictire of the one at Sam's Club. I bought one yestaerday. Seems pretty sturdy. It is at least as study as the wire rack ones I've seen elsewhere. It hooks up to a hose for your water (which I probably won't use) and has a drain hose you could run to a bucket. I like the way the cooler shelf is lower. The area where the cutting board is also works as a drain rack. It has pole to hang a lantern as well.

Well, I used the camp kitchen I bought from Sam's Club over the weekend. It worked great. Made for very easy meal prep; much easeir than cooking on rocks!

The two side tables are a bit slippery. The place I set-up the kitchen was not quite level, so I had some issues with keeping the cooler and stove from sliding off. For the cooler side, I will get some of that non-slip drawer lining to put under the cooler. However, I am not sure what to do about the stove side, as the non-slip stuff would melt. I think I'll put some rupper feet on the bottom of the stove at the outside corners. That should keep it in place.

The kitchn is a bit heavy. I would think the wire rack one would be much lighter. However, with care, this thing should last a long time.

I had a similar portable counter like the Sam's Club version. Mine does not have the back splash or the cooler shelf. I bought it at Sam's but it is actually a Coleman Sequoia. We've had it for about 4-5 years. Works great.
Ours has a wire rack for the stove shelf. Makes it very sturdy and non-sliding. Is your stove shelf a flat metal shelf?
The GSI sink w/ the water bladders looks like a very good idea. Having flowing water at the prep table would be very useful.

Yes, the stove table is flat metal.

It probably weighs, and I am really guessing here, 50 lbs.

Come to think of it, I could probably drill some holes on both side tables, which would reduce the weight and potentiall help with the sliding.

I got this and its been pretty nice to have..
