If the Android Auto is fairly seamless, I may go for this unit, as it gives flexibility to do more if you want it to. Ultimately, I don't want the hassle of having to do a wi-fi hotspot in my car, and my phone tethering is just okay with T-Mobile. I also don't like that the Grom requires a separate microphone for the non-car functions. The AA/Carplay should get rid of the tethering requirement.

The Lexus Beatsonic uses the factory microphone for everything. I'm hoping they get the Toyota version out soon.

I installed in the glovebox. Took me about 2hrs. I worked car stereo install while in college so that helped. All factory functions work including rear dvd. I turn my phone into a hotspot and the vline connects automatically after the initial setup.

Are you able to use the rear DVD simultaneously with (say) Waze on the front screen? #kidslovedvds
