What are you looking at installing it on?

It seems many companies are trying to build a WVO kit these days. OR cashing in on the novelty.

800 bucks they want for there kit and there is no info on how they do it. At least gresel or grease car give more info about there kits.

Fact is you can build these kits yourself for much cheaper.

Your in Washington??.. Do you get cool weather, or are you more like Vancouver? The single tank system to me only works for warm weather areas.

If you do a search on here you can find a bit of info on this.

The DAVCO Filter with the heating unit is about $375 on Ebay. The single tank system does only work in warm climates. They sugesst to mix the WVO with bio/diesel when it gets colder. There is a forum on the green benz site. Lots of discussion and his experience with a recent trip.

Im researching alot on WVO/Bio. I just bought a 300SD.

If I was to build my own WVO system, I would go two tank.

I would use a marine sytle tank for a Mercedes, metal one. I would put inside the tank a copper coil, with welded on fittings for coolant to flow thu.
Then I would run my coolant hoses down a flexible pipe such as a shop vac hose. Inside the hose would also be my fuel line.
At the tank also would be a racor 30 micron filter assy. And a small electric boost pump to help send colder veg oil to the filter in the eng compartment.

Once in the eng compartment I would run a filter such as this davco
http://www.davcotec.com/fp234.htm
And then to a iron tee fitting with a standard glowplug installed in it. Also on the way to the injection pump I would use a ford tank switching unit like in the older trucks. Just before the injection pump.

When I started the truck first thing in the morning I would wait five mins till the eng coolant was warm(not the tank) and then I would turn on the inline glowplug, and switch the fuel over to veg.

Oh ya and the shop vac stlye hose I would insulate in foam. First wrapped with tin tape.

Later the marine cruisday would be covered in hot water tank insulation.

This is an idea I had for a basic DIY veg kit.

I would not pay 800 for anything. Unless I was getting cool custom tanks and every darn thing needed.

Dont go copper tube with wvo.

wvo or biodeisel will flake off the copper on the heat exchanger. Go stainless or aluminum.

BTW, I am looking for somone to make a tank for me and possibly more tanks. The tank will have two baffles and have one 2 inch hole at the top one inch hole on the side and another hole for the heat exchanger. The tank in this image was desinged to be built of fiberglass. The back side of the tank is flat so no need to show its side. The groves that follow around the tank in two locations were designed for straps to hold the tank down. Dont include those groves in the bid price. Make it flat like the rest of the tank.

Tank is located at members.shaw.ca/glyfx3d/tank.jpg
