I'm looking at purchasing a GPS and was wondering which unit you all figured gave the best bang for the buck. I'm particularly interested in running topo canada v2 for off road travel. Regular old street driving comes second.

I see Cambodian Tire has been selling some Garman stuff for around $250 but maybe its old stock and out of date. I don't know.

Do you want to try to read the maps on the GPS screen or attach a laptop which will allow you to actually read the screen, coming from a guy who needs reading glasses.

Preferably, both. I already have glasses.

I can see myself sharing this unit with my better half so an attached and unattached option would be very useful.

I just picked up Nuvi 250w and was able to load my topo to it no problem.

the only things it's missing is the ability to add routes and log tracks but I can use it as a GPS antenna for my laptop and get those options when needed.
