Hey guys,
Ok I did search, but maybe I wasn't typing in the right thing... I just bought a garmin vista and i need to get some road maps with directions and all that stuff on it. I heard from a few people that there is one brand of software that is way above everyone else... I just don't know the name. Any ideas/recommendations? Also eventually some topography maps, but I def. need the streets first.

Thanks guys!

Ahhhh, ok. Thanks! I guess i'm just too excited to wait until it gets here to figgure it out.

Why do I not have good luck?

ok so i got my garmin, went to best buy, had 3 guys tell me that map update 2008 is what I need. I explained my situation to them about it being brand new and not having anything installed already. I buy the stuff for $90. Get home, no go. go back say it doesn't work, they tell me I need to update it with some download off the garmin website. Nope. I update everything and the software i bought keeps telling me i need to have a previous map version installed. Check garmin's website for that, they don't sell it anymore.

You guys know what to do here?

Map Update 2008 means that you are UPDATING a previous version. You need the City Navigator North America 2008 if you want a highway routable maps. You will also have to download Mapsource and install that to use the City Navigator NA 2008.

See, that's what I thought... but I had four dumbasses tell me otherwise. Now I have to try to find a place that sells this. BB and Circuit city don't carry it, only the update. Thanks though.
