Wanted to ask what is the black box beside my alternator regulator (mine's ammeter type-has big clip to hold it on) -fuses on the other side of alt regulator--I know this is an easy one for ya'll

and say....about this VSV vacuum switching valve...I know they must be important but how important? I assume they have to do with emissions but will the engine run rough if not properly hooked up right--can't post pics until I get my boy to help me figure out what I keep :censor: on posting.
Grateful as always, Dave

Mine was desmogged as well so, I don't know. But a vacuum leak is a leak though it might be seemingly negligeable there.

Will keep searching for info on the VSV--I also have a 70 Ford p/u so the thing looks like a bong out of Bangladesh to me:hhmm:
Dave

The black box has 3 black/yellow wires which go from the top of the box to a wiring harness below and a red wire from the bottom which go to a two prong recepticle right beside it--I have nothing plugged into this recepticle

I wiped off the VSV and it states :

A to Aircleaner
D to Distributor
G to Gasket
C to Carburator

And you are right Eric...I am just :censor: in the wind until I get a photo gallery for you folks to see--still enjoy everyone's thoughts-Dave

Thanks for the idea--will do a search of 69 stock engine boxes--maybe straighten out this :hillbilly: on wiring/vacuums etc to get er running--Moooochas Grrrracias!!! Dave
