gots me a winter job

picking up to day a 76 fj40 and a 74 fj40
the 74 has a glass tube (no motor)
the 76 is stock as a baby (and the rust was free )
now i will have my hands full this winter with the buggy,the 40,and my camper
the BIG ???
should i keep and run the 2F
or put in a alum, block V8 toyota
or a 22RE (has that been done ??)
or DIESELL

2F is a dependable motor - I wouldn't mess with it if it is running well. 2nd choice would be diesel in my book.

Are you combining rigs to make one?

My vote for the motor:

• 2f IF it runs good...easiest route.
• 22re...if you have one laying in the parts pile and if the rig will never be used in high range.
• toy v8 if you've got a little money to burn...cool factor here.
• diesel (mercedes 617.952 5 banger, isuzu, cummins, or perkins ) if you've got a lot of money to burn (there are exception to this)...another cool factor here.

I would take the 2F but I don't have money to spend on my pig unfortunately. If you go v8 route, i think you are doing the best choice with a Toy V8. Personally my choice would be a diesel.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I've seen a couple 22re's in FJ40's. Don't know how they would do on the highway..... Come to think of it, I don't know how my 2F would do on the highway since it never gets on the highway. For a DD/moderate wheeling I think the Toy V8 or diesel would be the better route.

i was all about the V8 then last night was thinking , i do like
the skinny pedal a lot so maybe the diesel would be my best bet

When I had a skinny pedal attached to more then a tractor motor I usually got into trouble..... I would hate to see what I would do with one attached to lots of gears and big tires.

it's a point and shot rig now
