Ok, so Goodyear didn't know anything about their own tire when they invited the industry to come drive with them?

Exactly. Not directional.

Whether or not GY deems the tire directional is up to them and is probably based on some performance characteristics. But It's obvious that the tire is not symmetric and its footprint is not the same when mounted L or R (inside or out).

Again I have to disagree. Whether or not the tread is symmetric or asymmetric:

Directional tires have to stay on the same side of the car. They often feature arrows on the sidewall to show the proper direction. If the tread is like this /\ and you rotate it to the opposite side if would be like this \/ - therefore directional and has to stay on one side for the tread to point up ^ not \/.

Per: Car Talk

With the MT/Rs you can rotate the tires to the opposite side from R to L or L to R and it would not matter. Just like the KM2s.

The BFG KM2s are symmetric but if you look how they are mounted left and right, the tread pattern would be like this (looking at the outside and inside lugs to L and R tires) \ \ rather than / \. The MT/Rs are asymmetric but follow the same pattern as the KM2s - / / Looking at the direction of the tire lugs left and right tire lugs.

Now this is if the tires are mounted with the two prominent lugs being outside on the rim.

If you look at the pictures, the direction (red line) of the out and inside lugs from the DS and PS. KM2s symmetric and MTR asymmetric - whether you flip the DS to the PS, the pattern or direction of the red line is the same for the MTR and the KM2s.

Soooooooo, the MTRs are asymmetric and not directional.
Ignore the arrows - top tire would be on the DS and the bottom tire mounted on the PS - keeping the OWL outside.
