I'm in the YMCA Adventure Guides with my kids and we have our annual Camp Surf next weekend. For the Friday nite dinner, we do a BBQ rib contest. My UDS is all ready to go!

It's a piece of cake. If you can find a food grade drum for free or really cheap ($15 or less), total cost is $50. It's so easy. Check out www.bbq-brethren.com. That's where I learned all my Que'ing skills. Those guys on there are masters.

Nice. Time to do a burn out! Get good ear and eye protection when u hit the inside with the grinder

Great price. If lined, then need to burn them out and hit with angle grinder

Do you know what they held. Back in high school, we picked up a drum from my friend's dad's business to hold a fire for an outdoor party. We lit it, and it belched this horrible black smoke. We looked at the label, and it was used to hold cyanide!! It was probably just the liner burning off, but that was scary. Ended the party.

The brethren is a great source for bbq. Good luck with the burn...I find it's a good reason to have friends over to help finish the beer in the fridge!

Changed my mind on the burn out. Too close quarters for my liking. Last thing I need is LAFD showing up and giving me some kind of fine for burning and creating toxic fumes. Found a source for unpainted unlined refurbished ones that will just require cleaning with soap and water.
