I just saw the prado at ICBC. It is #ucked. The thieves ripped the interior apart . The frame is bent the front bumper with winch is destroyed . They even pull the rubber pads off of the pedals. It is destroyed and they want to fix it. What little I know it will take months and probably more money than it is worth.

If you want a write off then work with your autobody shop to get it over the top. If there is not a big difference between the write off amount and the rebuild, you should be able to get it written off. A friend's wife last year ditched their new Avalanche and ICBC was going to rebuild it. They were about $3,000 out from the ICBC write-off #s and the ICBC repair estimate. Truck went down to the shop he selected where they got a much better look at the damage and the extra $3,000 was pretty easy for the shop to find. ICBC adjusters are usually off the mark on their repair estimates. There was some haggeling with ICBC but in the end they got a new Avalanche. It still took them about a month all in all. Good luck, John

ICBC called and asked me where I want it to go. After doing my research it doesnt really matter where it goes. I said Boyd in Newest so it will be towed there today. Thanks guys I appreciate your concern it sucks being without a working Cruiser.

If you want it written off you need to go somewhere that does high end work and charges for it but is still ICBC approved.

Have them review the ICBC estimate before starting in on it.

alot of the time, the estimators miss out on some hidden damage esp if its involved with a collision. take it to someone that knows these things and the costs involved in a proper repair. a bent frame seems pretty serious. cant be too hard to find 3G's more worth of damage.

i had a GTi that icbc wanted to repair after i bailed it. after the bodyshop found out that one recaro was bent and the replacement was well over a thousand dollars...they wrote it off.

good luck!

Well like everyone I am sorry to hear about your luck. I do know that feeling regrettably. The biggest problem you are going to have is even if they fix it it will not be 100% the same (especially to you) since you know what happened. For the frame, I will recommend only one place (which of course is stupidly busy) - Port Moody Frame Alignment (I think that's the name) - between The Spike and Steve's. I had them do some stuff in the past and they are amazing! Body wise, you really would have to do your homework, I've see stuff come out of some places where it is great one time and crap the next. It is really hard to find a good shop and the ones that are good are usually full. If you want it written off, make sure they check every little detail down to the last nut and bolt and insist on getting new parts where ever possible. After all - you pay these bastards for insurance against stuff like this, make them work for it and don't sign a thing until you are happy.
