EXILED,
So if I want to import a diesel 80 legally, I would have to (or at least it would be a good idea) to use an RI?
Also even with the NHTSA's stamp of approval I would still have to receive a letter from Toyota with my (intended-for-importation) 80's VIN?
I wish I could call the RI which did the petition, but I am currently in Japan (and will be for a little while longer).
I have read through the "Everything I learned ..." thread in the International section and would like to apologize in advance if I am asking the same information over and over again.
But it puzzles me if I would have to receive the letter from Toyota if the NHTSA has deemed them eligible. Would I (or the RI) just have to supply the emission info of the same model (or my rig.) to the EPA and also I would have to make sure that I would be able to get it legally registered in the state I intend to reside in?
I could ask the same guy in the local DMV (where I intend to live) I had contacted before in regards to putting diesel engines in a gasoline-engined vehicles to find out if registering/insuring, imported, RHD, diesel 80 would be legal there.
Thanks for your input.
Yours,
Mot
