Let me put it in perspective.

Nearly all the rigs on that page cost less than a new H2. I'd rather drive any Land Cruiser than one of those. ( Except maybe for my $2000 HJ60 )

great point... if you have the cash you can have your cruiser made to order, from showroom stock ala 198?, to any mods you want. I'm no wrench, but I know what I want, if I had the money I would be knocking on their door!!

Has anyone seen this past sundays New York Times style magazine page 142 there is an article on Land Cruisers. This lady in New York paid $20,000 for her 88 FJ62 from T.L.C. it says the truck is pushing 200,00 miles, it also says it's the first time she has fallen in love with a V6, I think she needs to look under the hood a little harder next time. It is a cool article though, and I do know how she feels, I feel the same way about my crusher and plan on keeping it forever.

referenceing above...

The more articles like this...

...the more people will be willing to shell out big bucks for them.

Frankly I think TLC's prices are ridiculous, but I have a completely different income from their clientele. If Mr. Successful wants to drop $45k on a new H2, but realizes he can get the "real thing" in a like-new restored FJ60 then more power to him. If I could afford to drop that kind of cash out of pocket for a vehicle I'd be inclined to do the same thing.

Mr. Successful didn't get that way by overpaying for gussied up tahoes. He's buying them because the government (ie, you and I) is subsidizing him.

Interesting stuff. I think certain people who always "demand the best" will buy something like that thinking that it must "be the best" due to price. Meanwhile, the sellers are at the local steakhouse laughing their asses off. I may add a couple of zeros to my sales price when and if I ever sell the 60 and see what happens!

TLC understands those sales listed are few and far between. I think they see them as bonuses.

Their bread and butter is the service department. I was down in the area for work a couple years ago and got to walk through their operation with one of the managers. Seemed like nice people to me. Take pride in their work and try to do it right/clean.

Make all the assumptions you want, but they seem to have their business figured out.

no affiliation, just observation

You have to remember where there located. I see young actors/actress drop a weeks salary like it was nothing. People around these parks have way to much disposable income.
