We all know I got issues.
But I had me one par-tic-u-lar issue that I found both troublesome and downright inconvenient ... I didn't own a "normal" rig for beerruns ... or errands ... or anythang else. The Big Ol' Dodge is like drivin' a friggin' dumptruck 'round town ... the cruiser ain't real road friendly ... nossir ... I needed a daily driver.
I done me alot of cypherin' on this to define what I wanted from a daily driver. I wanted somethin' reliable to just jump in and go ... to bop 'round on errands with creature comforts. I wanted somethin' fully capable of haulin' a lil' campin' gear and doin' some mild wheelin' if'n I ever take a notion to go down to Big Bend in the spring or Colorado in the summer ... or whatever.
I've played 'round with the thought of pimpin' out an ol' Piggy or 60/62 Waggy ... but the thought of a 'nother project truck didn't sit well with me. Looked at a few 80 Waggies but the high mileage on 'em didn't sit well with me neither. Best for me to buy somethin' new and not worry 'bout it.
The current offerin's from Toyota for a capable rig are very limited. The FJ's just too friggin' ugly ... and not that impressive to me. The new Taco's sweet lookin' and was a strong contender but I ain't real big on IFS. Besides ... I ain't much on that foreign stuff anyhow.
So what's a Fella to do??
The answer was obvious ... cross over to the dark side. Buy a Jeep Rubicon. But I don't care none at all for the new '07 body style so it was time to act ... and act quickly. Needed to nail down an '06 Rubicon 'fore Folks started pilin' up the mileage on 'em.
Done some surfin' on ebay Friday night and found what I wanted ... and it was right down the road on the used car lot of a Mitch-a-bitchy dealer in Lewisville.
Loaded up Momma yesterday mornin' and went to fetch it.
Y'all feel free to flame away but the facts is hard to argue. For 23 grand I done got me:
A dark mettalic blue '06 with 8500 miles. Heater, A/C, cruise, 6-disc CD changer, tilt wheel , damn-nice interior, etc.
Removeable hardtop ... with the factory soft top included too ... still in the box.
Fuel injected 6 cylinder with plenty of pep. 6-speed gearbox, 4 -1 transfer case, Dana 44's front and rear with factory air lockers, and a coil spring suspension.
Like it or not .... Toyota can't touch this s***.
Gonna put me a 6" inch long-travel lift kit and some 35's on 'er, some bumpers on each end, a winch and call 'er done.
Reckon she'll meet my needs right nice.
Carry on.
