Glow plug light (and filter light) don’t lighting will the glow plug system seem work

The problem is : the glow plug light lighting just ½ sec… like it flash when turning the key ON (no start).

So I made some test as show in FSM and (but before, I clean all the wire and check all connection.) :

Glow plug relay #1 work (round one)
Glow plug relay #2 work (square one)
Continuity between the ground and the glow plug
Continuity between the glow plug current sensor
Continuity between the glow plug resistor
Light bulb is OK

When turning “ON” the key :

V between glow plug and ground : average of 4 : 3,6 V
V between the glow plug resistor : 11.05 V
Both droop to 0 V after ± 20 sec.

So any thought ?

Oh… the filter light don’t light at all… but this is another problem….

PS : the engine crank and starting... but "seem" crank more than usual.

Thank.

How much V should I read on the glow plug ? ... and on the resistor ?

Where can I found that info in the FSM. (page #) ?

OK. I found how to fix my problem !

Bad connection. I lost about 5 hours to found it. Tabarnak !

Any way, I still whant to know how much V a healty 12V (3B) Cruiser give to each glow plug (and resistor).

Someone can make the test and give my is result ? Thank.

I can't test right now. But they are 6 volt plugs. After the resistor and with all voltage drops blah blah....

You should have in that range or higher. I would suspect aorunt 5-6.

Its not in the FSM for Chassis, its in the engine FSM.

David, best advice I can give is go to a manual set up. There is a great explaination by Greg_B in here decribing the Milson switch. I did it. And got rid of the crappy ass timer. It starts waay better this way. No after glow or secondary relay used, Just the primary. If you need to smooth out after the start you can push the button in for 20 seconds more. Best no smoke starts ever!!!!!!

Once you go manual you will not want to do the timer again.

Hey !!

Nobody can perform the test ?

How much V on your glow plug ?
