The Bureau of Land Management is accepting public comment for the Recreation Area Management Plan (RAMP) for Gila Lower Box Area. This area is located in Southwest, New Mexico. This project is currently in the public scoping phase which means they are accepting public comment to help them develop a variety of management alternatives.

The purpose of the scoping period is to receive feedback on the area and how it should be managed. There is currently a Wilderness Study Area and an Are of Environmental Concern within the planning area. The BLM says, “The BLM is undergoing this planning effort to provide better access, interpretation, and recreation sites for the public as the Gila Lower Box grows in popularity”
To provide better access the BLM needs to not only maintain any current roads but analyze under NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) additional roads that would provide access to all. If you have any on the ground knowledge of this area please reach out to us. You can use the tool below to send a scoping comment to the BLM before May 5, 2022 letting them know that all forms of recreation is important to protect.
